Abstract

The term Ribosome inactivating proteins is quite familiar for its depurination activity leading to the inactivation of ribosomes. It is also a well known fact that they have different enzymatic activities. These proteins widely occur in plants performing a variety of tasks in regulatory pathways, cancer immunotherapy, cell death mechanism, antifungal, insecticidal and antibacterial functions. Thorough understanding of these proteins will pave way for new findings in various fields of science. Though many such articles had been published regarding these proteins, this is a simplified overview for the beginners who have an interest to know about these specialized proteins.
