Abstract

Background: Typhoid fever is a systemic disease caused by Salmonella typhi (S. typhi). which can cause various clinical symptoms that vary from mild symptoms to severe symptoms and some complications occur. Methods: The study was a descriptive study of medical records of pediatric typhoid fever patients from 2019 to 2021. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The data described are the initial data of clinical examination and supporting examination. Results: There were 33 pediatric typhoid fever patients, 17 males (51.52%), 16 females (48.48%). From the results of the physical examination of patients with symptoms of fever 17 people (51.52%). Other accompanying symptoms include vomiting 24 people (72.73%), anorexia 21 people (63.64%), relative bradycardia (63.63%), abdominal pain 18 people (54.55%), diarrhea 9 people (27.27%), dirty tongue 6 people (18.18%), rose spot 2 people (6.06%), and headache 1 person (3.03%). Many leukocyte levels were found, namely patients with normal leukocyte levels in children aged 1-6 years, 15 people (45.45%). Conclusions: Typhoid fever in boys is more than girls in toddler age. Generally, clinical symptoms that are found in addition to fever (with febris level) are nausea/vomiting, anorexia, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, leukocyte levels, platelets, hemoglobin, showing most data at normal levels.  Keywords: Typhoid fever, clinical symptom, child, characteristic
