Abstract

In recent years, decisive progress have been made in obstetric brachial plexus palsy owing to: the introduction of microsurgical reconstruction involving the interposition nerve grafts, progress in rehabilitative secondary surgery related to tendon transfers or to muscle transfer procedures, and new developments in functional bracing and electrotherapy. Since 1978, J. Terzis has operated on 17 babies with OBPP. In six cases, a sufficient time (more than 3 years) has elapsed from the time of the operation to evaluate the results of this surgery. In five others, important observations can be analyzed. We are therefore reporting and discussing our findings on only 11 cases that were analyzed in detail so far.
