Abstract
Nanocrystals of perovskite have recently attracted great research interest because of their outstanding properties for optoelectronic applications. More recently owing to their excitonic emission they can be used also for the generation of quantum states of light. In this review, we provide an overview of the so far demonstrations of single-photon emission in various perovskite nanocrystals and compare them with the current state-of-the-art single-photon sources in other more technologically mature materials for this application. In this respect we focus on the prospects and challenges associated with the nanoengineering of the nanocrystals to improve single-photon emission properties which depend on the charge dynamics and excitonic photo-physics; we expand to prospects of generating quantum light sources such as photon pairs based on biexciton formation. We finally provide an outlook for the future of perovskite nanocrystals' impact on quantum light and their associated devices in quantum technologies.
