La Amazonía: un interés estratégico para el Estado colombiano

Abstract

La región amazónica es un área ubicada en Sur América que tiene una extensión de más de siete millones de kilómetros cuadrados, de la cual, hacen parte ocho países: al norte, Colombia y Venezuela; al oriente, Guyana y Surinam; al sur, Brasil y Bolivia; y al occidente, Perú y Ecuador. Esta zona es atravesada por el río del mismo nombre, considerado el de mayor longitud en todo el planeta (Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe CEPAL, 2013). Con base en lo anterior, se planteó como objetivo identificar los intereses nacionales del Estado colombiano en relación con sus recursos naturales y las motivaciones que llevaron al Gobierno nacional a impulsar el Pacto de Leticia por la Amazonía. Para tal fin, se adelantó una investigación con enfoque cualitativo, de tipo descriptivo, procediendo a recolectar la información a través de consultas en fuentes primarias, tales como (World Wildlife Fund (WWF), CEPAL, ONU, Banco Mundial, entidades estatales y organismos internacionales, entre otras). También se consideraron otras fuentes secundarias, como (artículos de investigación y estados del arte publicados en revistas científicas, repositorios y bases de datos indexadas).The Amazon region is an area located in South America that has an area of more than seven million square kilometers, which includes eight countries: to the north, Colombia and Venezuela; to the east, Guyana and Suriname; to the south, Brazil and Bolivia; to the west, Peru and Ecuador. This area is crossed by the river of the same name, considered the longest river on the planet (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean ECLAC, 2013). Based on the above, the objective was to identify the national interests of the Colombian State in relation to its natural resources and the motivations that led the national government to promote the Leticia Pact for the Amazon. To this end, a qualitative, descriptive research was carried out, proceeding to collect information through consultations in primary sources such as (World Wildlife Fund WWF, ECLAC, UN, World Bank, State entities and international organizations, among others). Other secondary sources were also considered, such as (research articles and state of the art published in scientific journals, repositories, indexed databases).
