Abstract

Anatase (TiO2) has been paid attention as an environment-purification material due to its photocatalytic activity. In order to make use of anatase effectively, we designed to fix anatase particles in the porous structure of hydroxyapatite (HA) ceramics. We prepared anatase/HA composite granules by a hydrothermal method and evaluated the photocatalytic activity of the anatase/HA granules for environmental purification by examining the acetaldehyde decomposition. The anatase/HA granules were effective for the decomposition of acetaldehyde under the UV irradiation. These granules are expected to be useful for environmental purification. ©2009 The Ceramic Society of Japan. All rights reserved.
