Abstract

Identifies the killing of women by male partners as a multidimensional problem and examines relationships between intimate femicide and the factors of individual, family, community services, state status of women, and violence against women. Data were drawn from the Uniform Crime Reports, 1980-1982: Supplemental Homicide Reports. From January 1, 1980, through December 31, 1982, 4,189 females (aged 16-91 yrs) were known to have been killed by male intimate partners. Women of all ages are victims of this type of violence, which usually is the end result of an argument. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2005 APA, all rights reserved).
