Abstract
Muscle cramps are often experienced by hemodialysis patients that result in discomfort, shortened treatment times and inadequate dialysis doses. Cramps have been associated with adversely affecting sleep, anxiety, and decrease quality of life. The application of EBN used critical review method and Stetler model. Based on the evidence, intradialysis massage is a modal therapy that can be applied to reduce muscle cramps in hemodialysis patients. The purpuse of the evidence based nursing is to determine the effectiveness of intradialysis massage on the occurrence of muscle cramps in hemodialysis patients. Implementation of evidenced based nursing was held with the total sample used 14 patients undergoing hemodialysis. The results of EBN implementation showed that intradialysis massage was effective in reducing the scale of muscle cramps in hemodialysis patients (p<0,005). Intradialysis massage can be applied by nurses as non-pharmacological intervention management to reduce the scale of muscle cramps.
