Abstract

In covering the whole of paediatric emergencies, a large variety of data types can form part of question stems. Laboratory blood results, capillary gases, X-rays, urine dip testing results, lumbar puncture findings and pictures of rashes, are all likely datastems considering the range of clinical scenarios given above. Multiple national guidelines exist around which paediatric MCEM questions could be framed, and it is important to keep abreast of the latest guidelines pertaining to each topic, where appropriate. Finally, it is essential to be aware of the national resuscitation guidelines for children.
