Abstract
Despite modern treatment of chronic congestive heart failure, anaemia is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Anaemia commonly occurs in patients with heart failure. There is positive correlation between the severity of heart failure and the prevalence and severity of anaemia. Anaemia can play an important role in the natural course of chronic heart failure. Normalisation of haematological parameters in chronic heart failure patients may lead not only to symptomatic improvement but may provide therapeutic benefits. (Tab. 2, Ref: 39.)
