Abstract

Generally, any construction needs elements as support to make structure becomes rigid such as a beam. Almost all construction elements require beams to connect one element to another. Generally, loads act on the construction could be center load or distribution load. The beam may deflect and deform due to applied load, so that needs to be analyzed for the structural rigidity. In the present study, beam deflection is analyzed using analytical and numerical methods. The cross-section of the steel beam is wide-flange, having dimension 400 200 8 12 in mm with different distributed applied load and boundary conditions. The result obtained by the analytical method is compared to the numerical method.
