This chapter introduces molecular genetics and Mendelian genetics in so far as these topics apply to an understanding of behavioral genetics. The third chapter presents the methods of behavioral genetics that permit us to explore the effects of heredity on behavior. An overview of the evidence for genetic influence in such domains as intelligence, personality, and psychopathology is included in Chapter 4.
