Abstract
The analysis of body composition allows to know the proportions of the different main constituents of the human body and the nutritional status of the population. Their variations with age, growth, physical training and physiological situations and pathological present can be estimated in this way. This work analyzes the body composition of a sample indigenous Pemon of Bolivar State, made this in the form of descriptive type field. The sample has been selected intentionally and formed by 82 participants of both sexes and ages between 17-26 years. The proposal of Rose and Gui ma - rães whereas four body components, determining fat percentage by sex by Siri equation prior calculation of body density was applied to the quantification of body composition, bone mass was calculated by the equation modified by Rocha, the residual mass according to formula of Wurch and muscle mass according to proposal of Matiegka, analyzing the variables by descriptive statistics and student's t. The findings show differences of the sexual dimorphism in human, classifying the male tendency to slight overweight group obtaining a percentage of body fat of 20.83% and the female group for their proven tendency to obesity with a 35.96% body fat and a BMI within the categorization of appropriate weight for both sexes. Thus, concludes that men and women Pemon have tendency to overweight and obesity respectively, and may represent future possible development of noncommunicable diseases.
