Abstract

Missing teeth is an indicator of many systemic diseases and syndromes. In very few cases all the teeth will be ' missing and it is a dental manifestation of hereditary ectodermal dysplasia. In most of the cases one or two teeth 1 may be missing which may be due to agenesis ofthat particular tooth or tooth formation would have completed j but not seen in the oral cavity either due ' delayed eruption or in some cases due to impaction. In few other cases j the enamel organ responsible for tooth formation may sub-divide resulting in many miniature teeth called denticle which is called as compound composite odontome. Most of the single tooth missing cases are associated j with an odontome which could be the cause for the impaction of the same. This article presents the case of | impacted permanent teeth impinging the root of adjacent teeth due to an odontome.
