Abstract

The contingency theory is based on the premise that there is an idealaccounting system that applies equally to all organizations it alldepends on several contingent factors. Studies have identified severalvariables contingency methods of management accounting, however, none ofthese studies addressed the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), whichjustifies research to conclude whether these variables contingency, nowestablished in theory, are the same if we look at small businesses. Theobjectives of this study are related to the identification-ofrelationships between-the method of valuation of products used by SMEsand three Contingent variables: firm size, type of production; thekeeping of the capital. We have found statistically significantrelationships between firm size and methods of goods valuation. Thecollected data also suggests a relationship between how the companyvalues their products as well as the fact that they produce for stock orunder orders, however the small number of observations did not allowvalidate this evidence statistically. Regarding to the shareholding, theinformation collected. shows that there is no relationship between thetype of society and the method of goods valuation.
