PURPOSE: Tuberculosis is a disease caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis. Pakistan being a developing country has a very high incidence of tuberculosis. The aim of this study was to find the pattern of the post obstructive lung disease in our community presenting to our tertiary care setup with previous history of tuberculosis. METHOD(S): This was a prospective study carried out in the year 2012. Patients with the diagnosis of obstructive lung diseases were enrolled. Patient demographic details, previous history of tuberculosis were reviewed and their pattern of obstructive lung diseases was assessed. RESULT(S): There were 14 patients who were diagnosed with obstructive lung disease. There were n=6 males and n=8 females with mean age of 40.4 years. We found that n=10 patients had previous history of pulmonary tuberculosis out of which 9 patients had previous BCG vaccination. out of them n=7 were completely treated and 3 were partially treated. Post tuberculous lung diseases were chronic bronchitis n=7, ILD n=1, Asthma n=2 and bronchiectesis n=1. Pulmonary artery hypertension was noted in n=3 patients. Patients who did not had tuberculosis n=2 had chronic bronchitis, n=1 had bronchiectesis and n=1 had asthma. CONCLUSION(S): It was noted that patients with previous history of tuberculosis had higher incidence of chronic bronchitis, asthma and pulmonary artery hypertension.
