Abstract

Abstract The objective this paper is to know a significance difference in the students’ test scores between the students who are taught using problem based learning and those who are taught by using direct instruction. This research was the experimental research. The subjects of the study were X MP 1 as the experimental class and X TI 1 as the controlled class. The subject was chosen randomly. The result of the study showed that there was a significance difference in the students’ test scores between the students who are taught using problem based learning and those who are taught using lecture method in the materials of arithmetic sequence. This was proven by the results of Independent Sample T-test which showed that the sig (2-tailed) value was 0.035 which was lower than α = 0.05. This means that there is a significance difference in the students’ reading test scores between the students who are taught using problem based learning and those who are taught using lecture method in the materials. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan hasil belajar siswa menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis masalah dengan pembelajaran metode ceramah pada materi barisan aritmatika. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas X MP 1 (kelas eksperimen) dan X TI 1 (kelas kontrol) sebagai sampel penelitian. Pemilihan subjek penelitian dilakukan secara acak. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dari adanya penerapan pembelajaran berbasis masalah di kelas eksperimen dan penerapan pembelajaran cerama di kelas kontrol pada materi barisan aritmatika. Hal tersebut dapat dibuktikan dari hasil uji Independent Sample T-test dengan nilai sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0.035 dimana nilai tersebut kurang dari α = 0.05. Hal ini berarti terdapat perbedaan hasil belajar yang signifikan dari kedua kelas pada materi barisan aritmatika.
