Abstract
It investigates the existence of practices related to Information Management (IM) and Knowledge Management (KM) in the informational flows of the process of production in musical theater performances. The theoretical bases for the study were constituted by the literature of the areas of Information Science and Performing Arts, addressing the themes of IM, KM, Theater Production and Musical Theater. The empirical field was a professional production of medium-sized musical theater, using as methodology, the monitoring and observation of the production from the period of Rehearsals, through the construction and assembly of sets and props to the Premiere, interviews with the production teams and the process mapping and information flows, using the business process modeling notation methodology known by the acronym BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation). It concludes that although the use of certain practices associated with IM and KM were observed throughout the processes, the execution of such practices occurs in an intuitive and uncoordinated way. Theatrical production could greatly benefit from the presence of an Information Manager and the application of IM and KM practices in their processes.
