Skeletonema potamos (Weber) hasle and cyclotella atomus hustedt (bacillariophyceae) in the plankton of rivers in england and france

Abstract

Skeletonema potamos and Cyclotella atomus are each reported from several localities in England and one in France. Neither species appears to have been recorded previously from these countries. A brief description of the cells by light and transmission electron microscopy is given and the occurrences are discussed. © 1978 The British Phycological Society.
