Abstract

The challenge is great for social workers who attempt to help patients cope and comply with prescribed medical treatment, for the cost of compliance is often high. This article discusses the importance of accurate assessment of the patient’s motivations for noncompliance, and of wise planning of management to meet these needs. These are essential social work tasks that will enhance patient compliance. © 1983 by the National Association of Social Workers, Inc.
