Abstract

MgCl2/AlCl3-supported Ziegler-Natta catalysts were prepared using the one-pot milling method and low isotactic polypropylene was synthesized using this catalyst. The results indicated that higher Ti content in catalyst and higher polymerization temperature lead to higher isotactic index of resultant polypropylene. It was found that when Ti content was 1.2 wt% and the ratio of AlCl3/MgCl2 (mol/mol) was 0.1 in MgCl 2/AlCl3-supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst, the activity of catalyst was highest at 30°C. © 2008 VSP.
