Abstract

For students majoring in vocal music, tension and anxiety are inevitable emotions arising in stage performance. Music therapy offers a possible solution to the performance anxiety of these students. Therefore, this paper explores deep into the psychological intervention of music therapy on the performance anxiety of vocal music students. After theoretical analysis on music therapy and performance anxiety, the author conducted a questionnaire survey on performance anxiety of music students and vocal music students from eight universities in Hebei, China, and analysed the survey data on SPSS, in the light of physiological factors, psychological factors and social factors. On this basis, 61 students with mild anxiety or above were divided into two groups and received intervention with two kinds of music. The heart rate, respiratory rate and skin electricity of each subject were measured throughout the experiment. The results show that the performance anxiety of vocal music students is related to gender and stage experience; music therapy could effectively alleviate the vocal music students with different degrees of performance anxiety, and reduce their psychological barriers, thereby preventing performance errors induced by anxiety. The research results are conducive to the promotion and application of music therapy.
