Abstract

Applying the principle of rapid prototyping manufacturing process, using the method of slice evaluation of point cloud surface model, a complex surface parts intersection computing algorithm is proposed. The intersection of the surfaces are calibrated with the color attribute, and the 3D point cloud surface model is simplified by dimension reduction using layering and slicing. Binary raster image is used to replace the point cloud data, and the distance computing of the three-dimensional point is converted into a Boolean operation of the color map, which greatly reduces the computational complexity and variability. Through the iterative refinement of the grating grids, the intersection feature points of the surface are obtained step by step. The experimental results of point cloud model depict that the algorithm is effective, simple, stable and reliable, and it is applied to the flattening and nesting, and welding path planning in manufacturing, which further explains the wide adaptability of surface intersection algorithm.
