Giant malignant phyllodes tumor

Abstract

Malignant phylloides breast tumor is a relatively rare and rapidly growing tumor of the breast. The incidence is less than 1% in all breast cancer population. These neoplasms are characterized by proliferation of mesenchymal and epithelial cells. The highest isk is between 35 and 45 years of age. The clinical presentation of phylloides tumor is heterogenous for shape and size. .Depending on the size of the lesion either conservative surgical treatment with a free margin of 1 cm. or total mastectomy is performed. Indications for complementary therapies still remain controversial. We present a giant malignant phylloides tumor (16x16x12 cm) surgically treated by mastectomy.
