Abstract

Growing awareness of the benefits of renewable energy sources has increased interest in geothermal sources of power. This article explains what geothermal energy is and how it can be exploited. Iceland provides a useful case study, particularly as there are considerable difficulties to overcome in harnessing the energy source.
