Abstract

Todaýs manufacturing companies need to adapt more than ever to changing customer needs, rising resource costs and increasing uncertainties. A promising way to face these issues is the digitalization of the manufacturing system. Key elements of the digitalization are cyber-physical systems (CPS) and the cyber-physical production system (CPPS). In the last years, the Digital Twin has become a synonym for the cyber-part of CPS and CPPS. In this paper, a conceptual framework and potential applications of a decision support system for the order management process are discussed, that is based on the Digital Twin of the manufacturing system.
