Abstract

Studies a two-box model of the T-S relation in which the mass exchange between the boxes is a function of the density difference, and the effect of rainstorms is modeled as random precipitation and evaporation. The equilibrium solution of the Fokker-Planck equation is found and then used to compute the average density ratio of the ensemble. This average is close to 2, provided that the random fluctuations are large and that the mass exchange is proportional to the absolute value of the density difference between the two boxes. -from Authors
