Abstract

Automatic classification of bills has become importantaccording to the progress of office automation. This paperis concerned with the new development of bill moneyclassification based on a competitive learning algorithmwhere Italian Liras are adopted for classification. Thelearning vector quantization (LVQ) method is used ascompetitive learning. Original data of Lira bills may berotated and/or shifted. The authors show that the LVQmethod could be used effectively to classify the Lira billsunder such various conditions.
