Abstract
Unsupported and silica-supported H3PMo12O 40 catalysts show a wide temperature range for decomposition on thermal treatment allowing the formation of monoclinic β-MoO3 (characterized by Raman spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction); this new supported phase leads specifically to dimethoxymethane in the methanol oxidation reaction.
