Abstract

Wire to wire: The hybrid Sup351-61-E2GFP-MPH, which consists of the pH-sensitive green fluorescent protein E2GFP, the enzyme methyl parathion hydrolase (MPH), and the yeast prion protein Sup35 1-61 was obtained by gene fusion. A self-assembled nanowire was formed through aggregation ofthe Sup351-61 sub-unit (see picture). The wire acts as a biosensor that can detect methyl para-thion with a sensitivity 10000 times greater than free E2GFP-MPH. © 2010 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim.
