Abstract

This paper describes a unique entrepreneurial venture initiation class conducted in the spring 2007 semester at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. The students of this class started a business together and shared in the value created. The business was a social networking Web site, www.wishfood.com, forming a community of individuals with an interest in food and wishing to share recipes. The course was designed to expose students to the process of starting a business, to teach the technical skills required, and to imbue an entrepreneurial spirit. This paper covers the structure of the course, the contributions of the students, the business timeline, and the outcomes of the course. This paper will allow a professor to replicate and learn from the successes and failures of the course. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
