Abstract

In this article, I offer an overview of the sub-discipline of Everyday Aesthetics around the notion of the aesthetic. I distinguish three stages along its development: a first stage characterised by expanding the notion of the aesthetic; a second stage marked by criticising that expansion; and a third stage where theoretical reflection on the aesthetic is currently diminishing. Moreover, I critically analyse some of the criticisms of the sub-discipline and suggest future paths of research.
