Abstract

A bathymetric map, a morphometrical study based on bathymetry, and a sedimentological analysis of Honda Lake are carried out. Some relationships between morphometrical parameters and lake characteristics are presented. Results of the bathymetric map show that Honda Lake presents an ovoid outline form, with only one slightly convex basin. Phyllosilicates are the most abundant phases in the characterisation of the sediments, followed by gypsum and, in smaller proportions, by calcite, quartz, halite, and dolomite. Results obtained from the sediment texture shown that the most important texture in deep samples is silty-clay, while surface samples present higher proportions of silty-clay-loan. Finally we emphasise the importance of this study, in relation to possible future changes in morphometrical parameters as a consequence of human impact. © Asociación Española de Limnología.
