Abstract
The juridical protection of Amazonian water resources is an issue of great importance for the environmental preservation of this region. However, regulation and theoretical study of transnational protection strategies are an underdeveloped topic in the regulatory and scientific fields. This article arises from the description of the global importance of the Amazon Basin, the regulations, organizations, and management, for the need to boost the protection of their shared water resources, through a theoretical proposal for transforming legal and political notions, such as environmental citizenship and sovereignty. The article also reflects on commons from a perspective of recognition of the entitlement to these resources by the Amazon countries and their communities through an exercise of innovative power.
