Abstract

The electrophoretic karyotype of fu1 ur strains of P. stipitis and five strains of C. shehatae were compared by means of OFAGE and TAFE techniques. Although the number of chromosomal bands was six in all cases except one, P. stipitis revealed a clearly distinct pattern in comparison to C. shehatae. Both yeasts showed remarkable chromosome length polymorphism. © 1992 Springer-Verlag.
