Using TTCN-3 for testing platform independent models

Abstract

In the field of telecommunication UML and Model Driven Architecture (MDA) have an increasing acceptance. MDA brings up new questions about the testing of the application developed by this technology. In MDA, Platform Independent Model (PIM) is the source of the system, and all maintenance and enhancement is performed at the platform independent level. However, MDA supporting tools provide only limited means for describing model level test procedures so a framework for model testing is indispensable. This paper investigates how to assist the model level test development with TTCN-3. We found that with the help of model translators we can facilitate and partly automate the test development process. © IFIP 2005.
