Abstract
Brucellosis is an infectious disease with wide clinical variability and can involve all systems in humans. It can cause many neurological diseases such as neurobrucellosis, meningitis, meningoencephalitis and epilepsy, which develop due to involvement of the central nervous system. Febrile convulsion is the most common seizure type in childhood and central nervous system infection should be excluded during diagnosis. A 3-year-old girl, who was admitted to hospital with convulsion and joint complaints, was evaluated in terms of neurobrucellosis. We present this patient with brucellosis and febrile convulsion as these two diseases are rarely found together. We would like to draw attention to the importance of the evaluation of brucellosis patients with convulsion in terms of neurobrucellosis. © 2013 by Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.
