Abstract
The growth of renewable energy systems has highlighted the need for fault detection and notification. The application of fault detection and notification is seen as an effective tool to monitor the performance of renewable energy systems. Based on the literature review, this paper presents a fault notification mechanism and its implementation, including detection in an IoT- based photovoltaic panel monitoring and analysis system. The implemented fault notification detects abnormalities in the voltage-current-temperature relationships in the IoT-based photovoltaic panel monitoring and analysis system. The implemented fault notification in the IoT-based photovoltaic panel monitoring and analysis detects and notifies of any abnormality in the voltage-current-temperature recorded at the photovoltaic panel. The implemented fault notification operates based on the threshold values for voltage, current, and temperature programmed into the centralized controller. Hence, when any parameter input falls below the preset threshold, an email notification is sent to the centralized system to alert the maintenance team. Based on the implementation and results, the implemented fault notification in the developed IoT-based photovoltaic panel monitoring and analysis system successfully achieved its purpose.
