Abstract

Longitudinal distributions of the process variables in blast furnace have been determined by numerical calculations with the aid of a digital computer. Both the fractional utilization of hydrogen and the fractional reductionof iron ores at the top of the bed in the furnace were taken into account. Heat transfer coefficients between gas and solid particle determined from different empirical equations for a packed bed and for a solid particle were used in each calculation based on the model, and the longitudinal distributions of the process variables obtained by these calculations under the same operating conditions have been compared with each other. Longitudinal distributions of the overall reaction rates in the furnace are also discussed in this paper.
