Abstract

The Athletic Academic Associations (AAAs) are important associative institutions responsible for university sports. Over its more than 100 years of existence, political, social and cultural aspects have led to changes in the structure, composition, types of actions, scope of competitions and diversity of modalities promoted. But little is known about the training of these institutions, which led to the carrying out of this research aiming to analyze the organization of sports training in the AAAs of UFMS/Cidade Universitária. This is a descriptive, exploratory, quantitative and field research, with the participation of 17 presidents of AAAs from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul/Cidade Universitária, by completing an online questionnaire and analyzing absolute and relative frequency of the data. It was evident that the majority of athletics (88.23%) use the university's sports facilities for training, have coaches (70.58%) trained in Physical Education (66.66%), paid (83.33%) with cash resources (90.00%) and chosen mainly for the amount charged (50.00%). It is concluded that UFMS/Cidade Universitária figures as an important space for AAAs training, and that the athletics analyzed use coaches with specific training for sports preparation.
