Developing a Strategic Program for Chilean Health Information Technology: Environmental Scan and Key Informant Interviews

Abstract

This report presents the results of an environmental scan and key informant interviews describing the current state of health information technology adoption and implementation in Chile. It also addresses challenges and opportunities faced by the Chilean health care system in encouraging development in the health information technology sector over the next ten years. This is the first phase of a larger project that will develop a roadmap for the Chilean government’s Strategic Program in health and technology. The objective of this Strategic Program is to foster the development of the health and technology sector in Chile over the short, medium, and long terms.
