Abstract

Plasma 11-hydroxycorticosteroids have been measured in plasma samples taken at four-hourly intervals over 24 hours from patients with depressive illness, congestive heart failure, and Cushing's syndrome. In those with depression a normal circadian rhythm was found, except at 04.00 hours. In congestive heart failure and Cushing's syndrome it is unusual to have any obvious rhythm. © 1967, British Medical Journal Publishing Group. All rights reserved.
