Abstract

Two recent reports show that it is possible to reprogram somatic cells to a stem cell state using only a chemical cocktail or by inducing genes in tissues of engineered mice. These studies herald a time when cellular plasticity can be manipulated directly in the body to regenerate damaged tissues and organs.
