Abstract

A case with evidence of radiographic healing of a periapical lesion 12 years after root canal treatment is presented. The use and limitations of previously produced guidelines on radiographic follow-up intervals are discussed. Questions are raised about what is known of the healing process and when further treatment should be instituted. The reliance on single radiographs alone when making treatment decisions is discouraged. © 2007 Nature Publishing Group.
