Abstract

In the chapter, a hyperbranched, functional, water-soluble, and amine terminated polymer is synthesized by melt polycondensation reaction of methyl acrylate and diethylenetriamine. The polymer is then characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The color characteristics of the dyed samples are evaluated using CIELAB method. The result showed that the color strength of hyperbranched polymers (HBPs) treated PA6 fabrics is more than pure PA6 fabric due to the presence of terminal primary amino groups in the molecular structure of the HBPs. Moreover, the washing fastness of the dyed treated PA6 fabrics were also good compared with that obtained by conventional dyeing.
