Abstract

A power conversion efficiency of more than 7.2% under AM 1.5 sunlight (100 mWcm-2) is reported for the first time for an organic-dye-sensitized solar cell used in conjunction with a newly developed binary ionic-liquid (solvent-free) electrolyte (see current-voltage plot and photocurrent action spectrum for the sensitizer D205, the highest occupied molecular orbital of which is shown).
