Abstract
Anisothermal oxidation of metals often takes place during heating and cooling processes in industries. For example, the steel slabs in a reheating furnace always undergo oxidation at varying temperatures. The Markworth model has been used to describe the kinetics of anisothermal oxidation, but it becomes very complicated when temperature-time relationship is non-linear. A numerical model has been developed in the present work. This model has a clear physical meaning, and is more flexible and easier in treating non-linear temperature-time relationship than the Markworth model. The predictions from the present model are in good agreement with the experimental results and the prediction from Markworth's model.
