Abstract
Is identified andcharacterized interms of: quantity,type, location andexpression, transportation, waiting times, movements, and unnecessary processes, in nine manufacturing SMEs in the city of Medellin.The procedureconsistedof the stages:selection of processesto be studied (oneper company),operatingpersonnel training (7Wastes (Muda), 5S andvisualmanagement), deep session with management of the Muda identification form, verifyingin theshop floor (Gemba),results and analysis.Consolidatingthe findings forthe nine companies, 151workers weretrained,whichhelped to identify1.085 activities thatdonot add valueto the customer,with an averageof 121 perprocesscompany, mostwere transportation(31%) andunnecessary movements(29%).Methodological elements are provided to facilitate communicationbetweenthe operational level andothers, as wellas trainingand active participationof the same, making it possibleto identify opportunities for business improvement.It offers information of interest to academia,government,technology development centersand the productive sector.
