Abstract
The background of this research originated from the reality on the ground that the matter Linear Inequality in One Variable (PtLSV) introduced to students at the school after Linear Equations in One Variable (PLSV) by way of solving the same problem, the only difference being the sign alone or the end result of PLSV have a single set of settlement and PtLSV has many subsets of completion. However, techniques in problem solving PLSV when applied to the PtLSV problem can lead to incorrect results, causing learning obstacles. This study aims to find learning obstacles contained in the material linear equations in one variable. Learning obstacle obtained from the analysis of Respondents Ability Test (TKR) on students who have studied the material linear equations and inequalities in one variable. The method used in this research is qualitative method with Didactical Design Research (DDR) approach. The subjects were respondents who follow TKR, that is students who have received the lesson material linear equations and inequalities in one variable as many 37 people in class VIII SMP and 40 students of class X-MIA SMA. Learning obstacle found on the material linear equations and inequalities in one variable are categorized into three types, that is ontogenic obstacle, epistemological obstacle and didactical obstacle. Ontogenic obstacle is found for their leap of student thinking arithmetic mindset to algebra mindset. Epistemological obstacle is found due to the limited context in which students work on the problems caused errors. Didactical obstacle for teaching teachers found that procedural so that the formation of the concept of matter linear equations and inequalities in one variable students are not going well.
