Abstract
The behaviour of quot;Sucupira branca" (Pterodon emarginatus Vog.) was evaluated during the course of 8 years of harvesting of naturally fallen fruits, in ten 10.000m2 plots in a residual open savannah woodland of the former 'cerrado' of São Paulo State, Brazil. The collection of fruits was made in specific plots monthly, fortnightly or weekly during the period of natural fall, there were maintained some plots without harvest as controls. Over this period the number of young trees of the species did not diminish in comparison with the control ones.
